The eighth Shoshinkai show was held on November 22–24, 1996. Nintendo unveils the 64DD and the Rumble Pak, then still known as the Jolting Pak.

The Shoshinkai is renamed Space World and is held on November 21–23, 1997. It is mainly focused on the first two Pokemon games, planned on the Game Boy.
